September 8, 2006, Newsletter Issue #57: 02 February 2003 - 02/23/03 - Paratroopers Injured

Tip of the Week

During the pre-race festivities for the Subway 400, three paratroopers were injured because the strong winds carried the jumpers far away from their targets. One man hit the track and then bounced into the infield, hitting a the top of a tractor-trailer before landing on the ground. Another hit Earnhardt Jr.īs hauler before landing between race team trucks and a fence. The third jumper who was injured in the event had a hard landing on the asphalt of the track. Two other paratroopers had safe landings on the track, while the final jumper didnīt even make it to the track. He landed outside the Turn 1 grandstands.
