It was the driver of the Number 20 Home Depot Pontiac that won the Winston Cup Championship in 2002. Late in the season, Tony Stewart gained the lead in Championship points and was able to remain in the top position, above runner-up Mark Martin, during the final races. It wasn´t until the checkered flag of the final race of the year that Stewart was named Champion. He started off the season in 43rd position after car trouble during the first race.
